This course is for those with some experience of watches already or building on Adrian's 'An Introduction to Watchmaking - The Fundamentals one-day course. Suitable for Valuers, Auction House Specialists, Pawnbrokers, Retailers, Novice Collectors, and anyone who wants a comprehensive introduction to the fascinating world of watches.
Location
Courses are held in London, Birmingham, and Manchester. If you require the content of any of these courses tailored to your organisation or have more than eight people to train, it may be better for you to host a private event. Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss this.
Course Content - What will you learn?
Complications: Complete Calendar, Annual and Perpetual Calendars. Fly-back Chronographs, Split-Chronographs, Equation of Time and Astronomical displays, Quarter and Minute Repeaters, Alarms, Tourbillons and Carrousels
Bezels: No-deco Dive bezels, Count-down bezels, Slide rule bezels, Weems bezel, Hour angle bezel, City rings. Pulsation, Tachymeter and Telemeter scales
Manufacturing methods and degrees of finishing from mass machining to hand work
The history and current market positioning of the major commercial brands, including Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Cartier, TAG Heuer, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron Constantin
By the end of the day you will be able to discuss watch complications and features in detail with your clients. You will be confident in knowing what makes a watch 'haute horology' and the relative positioning of the major compemporary watch brands. You will be inspired to keep learning about the facinating world of watches both vintage and modern.
